Himachal tech colleges to introduce AI and other new-age courses

The government hopes to bridge the gap between academia and industry and equip students with the skills and knowledge they need for their professional careers

CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said artificial intelligence, data science, and mechatronics are among the courses that will be introduced to the colleges of technology in Himachal Pradesh from the new academic session. CM chaired a review session of the technical bodies, stressing the importance of staying at the forefront of technological progress.

The Himachal government has taken an important step by introducing a series of courses in various institutions from August 2023. The Bilaspur Government Hydraulic Engineering University will offer a Bachelor of Technology in Computer Science and Engineering (B.Tech.) with a specialization in artificial intelligence and data science, a statement said. This course is endorsed by the All India Technical Education Council and the Himachal Pradesh Institute of Technology.

The Rohroo and Chamba State Technical Universities currently offer specialized courses in computer engineering and mechatronics, respectively. Due to the evolving needs of the industry, training institutions have added courses such as “Electric Vehicle Mechanic, Mechatronics Technician, Fiber-to-Home Technician, Solar Technician (Electrical), Internet of Things Technician, and Maintenance Mechanic (Chemical Plant)” was introduced. Country.

CM emphasized the importance of hands-on training and called for working with leading companies to provide a hands-on approach to students. By encouraging such partnerships, the government hopes to bridge the gap between academia and industry and equip students with the skills and knowledge they need for their professional careers. The Chief Minister pointed out that the government recruits qualified personnel who undergo special training to ensure the highest quality of education.

By introducing these new-age courses, the Himachal Pradesh government is striving to create an environment conducive to technological progress and to provide ample employment opportunities for young people in the state, according to CM.
